The OffMaps iPhone app is an app that is dedicated to bringing you navigation information even when you are not connected to the internet. It is a way for you to save on roaming charges while still being able to view local and foreign locations. The way that the navigation app works is that you get online and you download maps of certain cities and save them onto your phone. The map database is huge, including all of the US Counties. You can download all of these apps for free and then get additional tour guide information for a small extra fee. Once you have downloaded the app you can search on it as much as you want while you are offline. You can search different streets, locations, and addresses.
The app is also connected to Wikipedia and you can get a lot of useful information from there. You can also get directions to a location while offline as well as save other helpful information to let you navigate through foreign areas.

Conclusion:
The app has a great idea and has potential to be really good. The main problems with this app is that it has some serious loading problems. Even after downloading the maps it still can be very hard to use it to navigate anywhere because there are large areas of just plain grid or solid black. It doesn’t work as smoothly or as thoroughly as it could. Also, although it says it will let you search places on the offline app this feature doesn’t always work. You can’t search businesses or get any local information without being connected to the internet. That being said, this app is really onto something good but still has a lot of improving to do before it could be considered a quality app.
