Magellan RoadMate is still one of the best navigation apps on the market. This app has been around for years now and is still going strong. One of the reasons that Magellan is still able to compete in the ever increasing market is that they continue to update features, map data and functionality. Magellan basically invented the one touch method to finding locations quickly and easily.
Navigation App
The RoadMate Navigation app is the single best navigation app for making travel decisions based on road traffic information. It offers helpful suggestions to avoid traffic congestion, road blocks and construction. However, this navigation app does not include some of the better features that navigation apps users are looking for such as, in-depth and data rich maps. While it can tell you where to find local stores and gas stations, it doesn’t have traffic camera feeds and misses some locations quite often. On neat feature that it does have is that you can send your current location and where you are headed through your social media services.
RoadMate App
Overall, Magellan RoadMate Navigation app provides decent and trustworthy service, but might be missing some of the features that you would expect a navigation app to have to stay competitive.

The AT&T Navigator App by Telenav isn’t just about getting you from your start point to your destination, it also provides a way to include points along your route with just one tap. Most navigation apps are moving over to voice recognition commands and the AT&T Navigator has done that giving the traveler an easy way to pull up destinations, plot routes and keep their hands on the wheel. Having to pull over or dangerously fumbling with your iPhone should, at this point in technology, be completely a thing of the past.

AT&T Navigator also gives you a lot of search features from finding the closest gas station with the lowest gas prices to all of the Wi Fi spots in the vicinity. Overall, the service is considerably pricier than others on the market at around $70 a year, but the app is free. AT&T Navigator also has a neat feature that allows you to turn on views from traffic cams plus the system integrates music functionality allowing you to play music while travelling and keeping the navigation on. This sounds like an inane feature, but one that other navigation apps have failed to consider in the past.
Another great feature that AT&T Navigator has had that is now being mimicked in most other navigation apps is local data storage. The app takes your current route and saves map and location information on your iPhone so that it can be used even when you drop signal. In the past it was very frustrating to have a navigation app that simply stopped working when hitting a dead zone.

Overall, AT&T Navigator is a great app except for the hefty subscription fee. It offers enough services and functionality to make it a navigation app worth considering.
Google Maps Navigation Apps Beta
Google Maps Navigation App in Beta offers a number of features that most GPS navigation apps users will be familiar with. You can search in plain English by just typing or speaking the name of the place you want to go to. You can also get a map of traffic, and search along your current route for any type of business that you may need. It really comes in handy when you need to find a gas station in an area that you are not familiar with. It’s important to remember not to use any of the manual features like search by text or any of the views such as traffic, satellite or street view while driving.
You can switch over to car dock mode to give you only the options that should be used while driving. One thing that this navigation app gives that many others do not is reliability for offline data. Even if you lose signal, the software continues giving instructions based off the most current data that was downloaded. You can even get continued auto rerouting and guidance while offline, which is an impressive feature that others simply haven’t mastered yet.
